Queer Portraits (soft cover)

£25.00

Queer Portraits was produced to accompany the groundbreaking exhibition of Sarah Jane Moon’s large scale portraits of people who identify as LGBTQI+ or queer. As a publication, it brings together nearly 30 of the artist’s most influential and admired portraits from over the last decade.

Sitters represented include performance artists Krishna Istha, Brian Lobel, Bird La Bird and Ursula Martinez, writers Julia Bell and Libro Bridgeman, artists Roxana Halls and Sadie Lee, musician Planning To Rock, doctors Harriet Owen and Ronx Ikharia, lawyers Elaine Gwilt and Bernadette Desmond, florists Derek Isaacs and Mark Siredzuk and award winning landscape designer Charlotte Harris among many others.

Moon’s portraits represent a cross section of contemporary queer LGBTQI+ life and love. Her subjects are often people close to her or whom she admires greatly for their commitment to live authentically and forge ahead in their chosen field.

As well as beautifully produced images, the catalogue includes an essay by Birkbeck academic and writer Julia Bell titled ‘A Queer Sitting’.
