£12.00 (Signed & Numbered Edition of 450)
58 pages | Full Colour | UK Royal (23.4 × 15.6 cm)
Published in summer 2025 to accompany Sarah Jane Moon’s solo exhibition Nature / Nurture, this full-colour artist’s book offers a vibrant depiction of Aotearoa New Zealand’s Bay of Plenty region through a distinctly autobiographical lens.
Known for her large-scale portraits, Moon here turns her attention to landscape, birdlife and the foliage of Ōhiwa and Waiotahe - places of personal significance that shaped her childhood and continue to inform her creative practice.
The book includes vibrant images of previously unexhibited work, including portraits, landscapes and still life paintings that reflect on themes of identity, belonging and homecoming. Portraits of her partner, friends and the late MP and activist Georgina Beyer sit alongside studies of native plants and endangered birds, highlighting both resilience and fragility. The accompanying introductory essay by the artist situates the work within broader questions of belonging, ecology and the evolving relationship between people, place and identity.
Each copy is signed and numbered by the artist in a limited edition of 450.
