This painting depicts two local women harvesting olives in New Zealand on the Bay of Plenty - a place that I have a deep and long standing connection with. I have such positive memories of this particular olive harvest - the community pitched in and worked steadily all day, breaking for lunch together to chat and make new connections. As is kiwi tradition, a few people had brought along instruments and casually broke into song afterwards. A properly idyllic day !
